The Nobody Who Fought a Dragon: A Dark Comedy Fantasy Novelette
Bill is the town's drunken pottery maker (and possibly the least qualified hero imaginable.) After a failed attempt to change his career, he is forcibly recruited by his neighbors and the king to join a quest to slay a dragon terrorizing their village.
In this darkly comedic fantasy novelette from 13 Acorns: Modern Short Stories for Thoughtful Adults , Bill faces a simple but dangerous choice: hide in his cave and accept his fate, summon the courage to fight, or be thrown into a pit of spiders for refusing to help.
If he agrees to join the quest, there's also the slim hope that someone might finally remember his name.
Armed with a rusty sword and half-drunk courage, Bill sets off on an adventure he never wanted. Along the way, he may stumble into a miracle, meet an unexpected kindred spirit, or find an even better way to keep drinking. Of course, he could also die trying.
The Nobody Who Fought a Dragon delivers a healthy dose of dark humor, action, and adventure, wrapped in a sharp literary style that keeps the chaos moving and the laughs coming.
Perfect for fans of humorous fantasy, satire, and unlikely heroes, this story is a fast, absurd romp through a world where even nobodies can have their brief moment of glory.
