Today, mercy is one of the overused terms in contemporary evangelical Christianity. As a result, it has been passed around as a jargon without its latent power of transformation being examined closely in the light of the scriptures. In this book Dr Bernard Appiah; turn to the scriptures to explore the subject of mercy. From the Old Testament, he delves into the institutionalisation of mercy in God's relationship with His people, by examining the significance of the Mercy Seat located on the Ark of the Covenant, which represented the government and presence of God among His people. In the New Testament, he examines the subject through the coming of Jesus Christ, His mission and His death by the shedding of His blood. From that, he explains the implication of the scriptural understanding of God's mercy for us today. Dr Appiah, uses a biblical narrative of Jesus' encounter with a blind 'non-believer' as a bridge to the Old Testament, to explore the idea of mercy from two distinct perspectives namely; to wipe out completely, and a call for a judicial review in the life of every individual who calls upon God for mercy.
