Excerpt from The Principles of Money and Banking, Vol. 1 Both General Walker and Mr. Jevons differed from many modern economists on the two important subjects of bimetallism and the principle of a banking currency. The chief justification, however, for a new work on the subject of money and banking is not afforded so much by this difference of opinion as by the progress which has taken place in monetary and banking science since their time. Many problems which a generation ago appeared obscure have been solved by the progress of events. Systems of currency have been successfully put in Opera tion which had not then been subjected to the test of experience. It is one of the objects of this work to record the progress thus made. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work.
