Butler at the outset distinguished him self, ih his inaugural, by a series of charges reflecting upon the fair fame of the Commonwealth, charges which showed a wilful intention to mislead, or a lamentable ignorance of the facts, and which have served only to hold the Commonwealth up to the ridicule of her sister States. We propose to take up the governor's charges and statements in order, showing what he claims, and what are the real facts, in each case.
