Theo Madden has spent twenty years trying to keep his sleepwalking under control.
Then he moves next door to June Lowell.
One night, Theo crosses their shared fire escape while asleep, climbs through June's broken kitchen window—and alphabetizes her spice rack.
Mortified, the pastry chef leaves an apology and a box of croissants. June, a guarded illustrator rebuilding her life, answers with a Post-it note.
One note becomes another. Apology croissants become treaty croissants. Conversations about safety become conversations about art, food, fear, loneliness, and everything neither of them finds easy to say face-to-face.
Soon the neighbors are falling for each other twelve feet apart.
But affection cannot make Theo's condition harmless, and June refuses to confuse love with becoming someone's caretaker. When a frightening episode forces them to rewrite the rules, both must decide whether their connection can survive in daylight—without accidents, midnight visits, or Sleeping Theo making the choices for them.
The Sleepwalker's Neighbor is a warm, witty, slow-burn contemporary romance about boundaries, vulnerability, creativity, second chances, and two people learning that real love begins when both are awake enough to choose it.
The later relationship arc reinforces that premise: after a dangerous episode, Theo's visits stop as his treatment plan changes, creating emotional distance even though June is relieved that he is safer. Their reconciliation ultimately depends on conscious conversation and mutual choice rather than the sleepwalking that first connected them.
