Oddway House and its terrible contents are unguarded. Barley Oddway, arrested during a dramatic conflict, is now untraceable. It is not a place that should be left undefended. There is more danger here than anywhere else in the haunted lakeside town of Overmere. Hannah Warden, the town's Wyrder and protector from all things paranormal, knows this only too well. She has the keys, and an unfortunate knowledge of the inhabitants of these walls, but she also has commitments. There's a ghost walk that must happen every night without fail lest the spirits roam free, which means that tonight she needs a babysitter. Her sidekick Ad's the man for the job. He might be new to the paranormal world and prone to wild screaming fits at the slightest sign of trouble, but it's only for an hour or so. Besides, he's all she's got. He listens carefully to the rules, nods in all the right places, and vows to sit completely still. Don't turn on the tv, don't order pizza, don't open the door. She won't be gone long. It'll be fine. Except there are forces outside of Oddway House that want in. And not all of the ghosts within are shadows of their former selves. Some of them are very keen to meet this evening's new resident, very keen indeed...
