This work is based on the avariciousness of people and what can occur if one is not thoughtful and careful in how one pursues the need to gain wealth without hard work. It is a dark tale written in rhyme so the reader is captured by the rhythm of the words. The Ogre is a stupid being who doesn't think and is faced with the witch who is entirely aware and calculating. The work is especially designed to be read to the child or if is read without a reader to create a thoughtful reaction to what can occur if impulse leads one to unthinking advanture
