Jaylise Rosewood has one job: survive her first day at Hallowfield University without embarrassing the entire human species.
As the first human ever accepted into the prestigious monster-only university, Jaylise knows every eye is on her. Hallowfield is filled with minotaurs, dragon shifters, merpeople, wolf shifters, mothmen, and creatures she does not even know how to name. They all seem perfectly happy living, studying, competing, and mingling with each other.
Humans, however, are another matter entirely.
To most of the monsters on campus, Jaylise is not a student. She is a curiosity. A problem. A soft, strange, "fleshy" little outsider who does not belong. Even her new roommate can barely stand the sight of her. Still, Jaylise is determined to make a good impression. She has a full scholarship, a major in Interspecies Social Work and Community Integration, and the terrifying responsibility of proving that humans deserve a place at Hallowfield.
Then Greyson Wrathbane notices her.
Handsome, arrogant, and dangerously charming, Greyson is a star wolf shifter in a Hallowfield varsity jacket, surrounded by jock friends who clearly think the new human will be easy to scare, easy to fluster, and even easier to play with. When he apologizes for mocking her and offers to help her find her way around campus, Jaylise wants to believe she has finally found someone willing to be kind.
Instead, Greyson leads her away from orientation, into an empty university building, and straight into a false alarm.
When the siren screams through the halls, Jaylise thinks there is an active threat on campus. Greyson pulls her into a closet for safety, presses close in the dark, and convinces her they might not make it out alive. Terrified, overwhelmed, and desperate not to die untouched, Jaylise gives in to the big bad wolf who promises to protect her.
But Greyson is not nearly as protective as he pretends to be.
He is a bully with sharp teeth and rough hands, one moment mocking her for being human and the next praising her in exactly the way that makes her melt. In the cramped darkness, fear turns into heat, humiliation turns into need, and Jaylise discovers how badly she wants to be wanted by the monster who keeps calling her weak, pretty, desperate, and good.
Greyson knows exactly what he is doing.
He knows when to scare her.
He knows when to praise her.
He knows when to make her beg.
And when the wolf shifter finally claims her with the kind of knot no human girl at Hallowfield is supposed to know how to take, Jaylise realizes too late that the most dangerous thing on campus was never outside the closet.
It was locked in there with her.
By the time she learns the alarm was never real, Greyson's friends are already waiting outside, eager to see whether the new human ambassador is as easy as they all thought she would be.
