Alex never wanted to work in service. She hated everything about it. She hated the smell of bacon and eggs mixed with self-loathing and ennui. She hated the easy listening background music. She hated the spelling mistake in the menu describing pinot noir as 'pinot nior'. She hated stocking those stupid tiny mini bar fridges with their stupid tiny bottles and their stupid tiny perfectly aligned labels. When Alex compares herself to her much more respectful sounding classmates, she realises they're all embellishing their mundane jobs. She decides to give hospitality a go - but learns that survival of the industry starts with resilience. Be both entertained and informed in this raw and emotional, but also hilarious reflection of what really goes on behind the scenes in pubs, bars and restaurants.
