In this House Are Many Women was originally released in 1992 when Sheree Fitch was beginning to make her name as a children’s author. The raw, heartfelt collection showed a different aspect of Fitch’s writing, in which she explored the realities of women’s lives and the many kinds of shelter that women both create for themselves and give each other. A second edition, issued in 2005, also included new poems characterized by strength, empathy, and a depth that exponentially expands with each reading.
