Aunque no hay tantos investigadores haciendo este tipo de arqueología, las investigaciones realizadas sobre esos períodos merecen ser conocidas. Este compendio académico buscó mostrar cómo se realiza la actividad arqueológica histórica en México con cinco trabajos, seguido de una segunda sección con otras cuatro investigaciones realizadas en Argentina, Brasil, Perú y El Salvador.

In Mexico in particular, the impressive pre-Hispanic past had overshadowed the research of other periods in the country's past, such as historic and industrial times. Although there are fewer researchers in these areas, the results of this research are important to overall regional narratives. This edited volume seeks to show how historical archaeological activity is carried out, firstly with five papers from Mexico, followed by a second section with four other investigations carried out in Argentina, Brazil, Peru and El Salvador.
