This diverse yet cohesive collection of songs, which is ideally listened to in its entirety from start to finish, does exactly what the title of the album suggests: it hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonorously, while bending genres and defying trends along the way. With the help of her brother and only collaborator, Finneas, the duo wrote, recorded and produced the album together in Los Angeles, their hometown.
