The book is about a man who is a P I. That went to help an old friend that was being blackmailed. As the story went on, it was hard to tell who to believe or not to believe. Bill being a good P I. figured out that the syndicate was involved. Being a good P I Bill was hard to trick, but this case was getting the best of him. As the story continues Bill falls in love with Lilley, to find out latter she was lying to him, all the time.
